The Mill Fudge Factory & Ice Cream Cafe Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary
Block Party: Free Ice Cream for Kids, Face Painting and Beer Tasting for Adults!
Bristol, NH —This Saturday, August 6th, the owners and staff of The Mill Fudge Factory invite all customers and community members to join them in celebrating a major milestone for any small business: 10 years in business! They will offer free ice cream for children (15 and under) from 11 am – 5 pm, free face painting for kids (12 pm – 2 pm), and beer tasting for those who are 21+, from noon until 2 pm as well.
“We literally would not have made it 10 years without the support of our customers and commitment from our staff,” said Noah Munro, co-owner of The Mill Fudge Factory. “This party is our way of saying, ‘thank you’,” Munro added.
After seeing over two dozen small businesses open and close their doors since he and his family opened for business in August of 2006, Munro feels that Bristol has really turned a corner for the better. “There have been an increasing number of stable businesses moving into Bristol, breathing life back into the square,” Munro added. Along with The Mill Fudge Factory, Pat’s Seafood and Pizza, Purple Pit Jazz Club, and Twin Designs Gift Shop are some of the most popular anchor businesses in Bristol Square.
Only one of every three small businesses survive long enough to celebrate 10 years in business (according to SBA.gov (Small Business Association), and this number is even lower in rural communities like Bristol, NH. The Mill Fudge Factory has been able to make it in Bristol by attracting customers from around New England with their unique combination of made-from-scratch ice cream and fudge, high quality lunch fare, and weekly live music concerts; and by marketing their artisan fudge to a national market using their e-commerce website. Their fudge was recently recognized by MSN.com as one of the Top 3 fudge companies in America.
"In the past ten years we have learned so much, about ourselves, and about how to run a business," said Linda Carmichael, co-owner of The Mill Fudge Factory. "We accomplished everything we set out to do. We created community, jobs, and we made great friends along the way. We look forward to enjoying the next ten years with our customers," added Carmichael.
The block party also coincides with the town’s 3rd annual “Making It in Bristol” festival taking place in the newly renovated downtown. This event offers visitors the opportunity to browse goods from many local crafters and businesses. The downtown fair runs from 9 am to 3 pmon August 6th.
About The Mill Fudge Factory & Ice Cream Cafe
Nestled in New Hampshire’s Lakes Region is the family-owned and operated Mill Fudge Factory & Ice Cream Café. Housed in a quaint, historic 1700’s grist mill overlooking the Newfound River, the Factory has been quietly serving high quality fudge, made from the Munro family’s traditional Scottish recipe, since 2006. Advocates of the slow food movement, the Munro family make their fudge with all natural ingredients including Callebaut Belgian dark chocolate, Cabot butter, pure honey and cane sugar and staunchly avoid corn syrup, preservatives, artificial flavors and colors. The handcrafted fudge is now available for shipping across the United States through the Factory’s online store at themillfudgefactory.com.
